Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?

To maintain our commitment to top-notch care, we operate as an out-of-network provider for all insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. Our sessions are exclusively designed for personalized 1:1 care, lasting a minimum of one hour. As a fee-for-service provider, payments are due at the time of treatment, and we accept various methods, including cash, checks, credit cards, and HSA/FSA cards.

On request, we can furnish you with a detailed "superbill," containing itemized services and billing codes. You can use this document to seek reimbursement from your insurance provider, but please check your out-of-network benefits beforehand.

What conditions do you treat?

We address a wide range of pelvic health conditions, such as painful sexual activity, vaginismus, interstitial cystitis, pregnancy-related issues, postpartum healing, urinary and bowel dysfunctions, low back/SIJ pain, and sexual dysfunctions, among others. We are inclusive, serving all genders and individuals aged 18 and above. Don't hesitate to contact us by email or phone to inquire if pelvic floor physical therapy can benefit you.

What can I expect during my first session?

During your initial session, we engage in a comprehensive discussion about your medical history and primary concerns. Following this, we conduct a thorough examination to understand your body's movement patterns. If necessary and with your consent, we perform an internal pelvic floor muscle assessment. Subsequently, we collaboratively establish goals and devise a personalized plan of care.

Do I need a physician referral?

In Connecticut, we operate under direct access, meaning you don't need a physician referral for pelvic floor physical therapy. You can attend up to 6 PT visits within a 30-day period without a referral. If improvement is observed, no referral is necessary. If no improvement is observed, we will refer out to a secondary medical provider for further workup.

Can I attend therapy during my period?

Yes, pelvic floor physical therapy is safe and comfortable during menstruation, provided you are at ease.

Do you accept Medicare or Medicaid?

Currently, we are unable to provide physical therapy services for clients with Medicare or Medicaid. However, we do offer wellness and private yoga sessions.

When should I schedule my postpartum visit?

We recommend waiting at least 6 weeks after delivery for your postpartum visit. If you're experiencing difficulties before this time, seek clearance from your medical provider to attend therapy sooner.

Where are you located?

You can find us at 141 Dowd Ave, suite 3 in Canton, CT. Our office is located inside the “Canton Physical Therapy” Building. Come on in and have a seat in the shared waiting area.

We also offer the convenience of mobile visits in the comfort of your home, with a travel fee applied.

Do you offer private yoga?

Yes, we offer 60-minute private yoga classes. Our instructor, trained with 200 hours at West Hartford Yoga, can guide you in power yoga, all levels, vinyasa flow, and gentle yoga.

What is sex counseling?

Our specialized sex counseling services focus on providing comprehensive sexual education, assessment, and treatment for specific sexual health challenges you may face. Unlike sex therapy, which requires a licensed mental health provider, sex counseling is a short-term, client-centered approach concentrating on immediate concerns or problems. It provides specific techniques and guidance to enhance your sexual function.
